Direct flight from Nagpur to Bangkok launched
Nagpur, Apr 15: Union Civil Aviation Minister Prafful Patel today flagged off the national carrier 'Indian's' inaugural flight to mark the launch of the state-owned airlines international operations from Nagpur to Bangkok at Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar International Airport here.
The Airbus A-320 IC 735 departed for Bangkok on schedule at 1010 hrs and will reach the Thai capital at 1455 hrs. Indian will oeprate the flight twice a week on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
Mr Patel said that with the Indian's flight to Bangkok, the Vidharbha region has been brought on the international destination map.
With the new operation, the national carrier, has become the only airline in the country to have the maximum connectivity with Bangkok, with flights operating from nine Indian cities.
Besides, Nagpur, 'Indian' connects Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Jaipur and Guwahati to Bangkok.
The Civil Aviation Minister said that the new flight will not only conect Nagpur to the Thai capital, a popular destination for tourists and business travellers alike, it will also connect the people of the hinterland towns of Gondia, Bhandra, Chandrapur, Amravati Gadchiroli and other place of the Vidarbha region.
