Pune, Apr 15 (UNI) Maharastra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh has sent his consent note to Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) stating that he was willing to represent the Club of Maharashtra (COM) on the MCA's managing committee.

In a letter sent on Thursday addressed to MCA honorary secretary, the Chief Minister has stated his 'willingness' to serve the MCA in the capacity of an authorised representative of COM.

This comes in the wake of MCA's managing committee's missive to COM, asking it to furnish a consent letter from Mr Deshmukh, who would replace Mr Balasaheb Thorve as the club's representative.

The MCA managing committee in its march 31 meeting had accepted the resignation of Mr Thorve as the treasurer of the assoiciation and the chairman of the legal and finance committee.

But, Thorve was to continue as a member of executive committee of the MCA and the tournament committee of the BCCI since he had not resign from the posts.

On April 1, MCA president Ajay Shirke had told medlapersons that there was a discrepancy in the COM's letter stating their right to change the nominee and had sought an explanation from the club.

Pointing it out, Mr Shirke had said the MCA received a letter dated January 25, from COM seeking change of the nominee, despite no vacancy existing in the managing committee.

However, on March 30, Mr Thorve sent his resignation letter, but it neither acompanied the resolution adopted by the COM nor a letter of acceptance from the Chief Minister, Mr Shirke had said.
