Aligarh peaceful; curfew lifted in two places

Lucknow, Apr 15: Curfew was today lifted from two in places riot-hit Aligarh town of Uttar Pradesh while it was relaxed in other three places in view of the improvement in situation.

Curfew had been lifted in Banna Devi and Gandhi Park olice while it was relaxed from 900 hrs to 1800 hrs in Sasni Gate, Delhi Gate and Kotwali areas, Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Padman Singh said here.

No untoward incident was reported during the curfew relaxation period.

The curfew was clamped following communal riots in Aligarh on April 6. At least, 275 persons have been arrested so far in this connection.
