Advani's Yatra starts in AP
Anantapur, Apr 15 (UNI) BJP leader and former party president L K Advani's ''Bharat Suraksha Yatra'' entered Andhra Pradesh today.
Mr Advani heli-hopped into Guntakal in this district from Bellary in Karnataka this morning. He had cancelled his visit to Karnataka due to the sudden demise of Kannada matinee idol Raj Kumar.
After resting for a while in the local government guest house, Mr Advani started his four-day Yatra in Andhra Pradesh, people thronged the route to have a glimpse of him.
Addressing a meeting at Guntakal, Mr Advani criticised the soft attitude of the UPA government in tackling the problems of farmers, minorities and in handling corruption and terrorism.
Mr Advani said the indifferent attitude of the UPA government was responsible for the recent blasts in Delhi and Srinagar.
Referring to farmers' problems, he said while suicides of farmers were on the increase due to the callous attitude of the government, in Andhra Pradesh alone 4,000 farmers had committed suicide after the Congress assumed power.
He wanted a joint Parliamentary Committee to go into the reasons prompting farmers to commit suicide and asserted that his party would demand setting up of such a committee.
