8th Meerut fire victim dies at Safdarjung

New Delhi, Apr 15 (UNI) With the death of one more person at the capital's Safdarjung hospital, number of Meerut fire tragedy victims who have died here has risen to eight with five more in very serious condition.

42-year-old Atahar Jafri died yesterday, hospital sources said.

A total of 31 burn victims, brought from Meerut on April 10 itself or the next day, had been admitted to Safdarjung hospital.

One of them was discharged while two shifted to OPD.

Most victims admitted at Safdarjung were suffering from respiratory burns, the ones with deep respiratory burns were in serious condition while those with burns on the limbs, back, face or thermal burn were moved to OPD.

The death toll in the April 10 Meerut trade fair inferno had meanwhile risen to 42.

Out of the 133 injured people, 89 hailed from Meerut and 42 from Delhi, Noida and Ghaziabad.
