4 cops injured as rifle goes off accidentally

Mumbai, Apr 15 (UNI) Four police constables were injured when the self loading rifle of a colleague went off accidentally outside the Arthur Road Central Prison here this afternoon.

The cops were returning from to the prison after producing the undertrial to local court.

One of the escorting cops, constable Sudhakar Aade, was engaged in removing the rifle's magazine when the rifle dropped from his hands and went off accidentally.

Constable Mahesh Bhosle was hit by a bullet on the leg while constables Astaf Mulla, Kailash Bharati and Prakash Bhitre received splinter injuries. All of them have been admitted to the K E M Hospital.
