14 die, 13 injured in two road accidents in Gujarat

Surat, Apr 15 (UNI) Fourteen people died and 13 were injured in two separate incidents in the state during the last 24 hours.

Seven people were killed and 12 others sustained injuries when a truck, coming from Maharashtra, turned turtle in Mandvi area of the district today.

The truck fell into a gutter and killed Dhondu Puda, Bansi Kishan Madi, Bhaji Sind Madi, Kishan Raju Sonavane, Gurnig Rameshsinh Sonavane, Bimarao More and Arjun Sival Mevire on the spot, Mandvi police said.

The injured have been admitted to Sanjivani hospital, the police added.

Meanwhile, in another accident, seven pilgrims died and one was seriously injured when a truck ran over them on the coastal highway near Dumra village of Kutch district.

According to police, the pilgrims, residents of Koday village of Mandvi and members of the Maheswari Samaj, were on way to Naliya to pay homage to their family God Matia Dev late last night when they were run over by a truck, as its driver lost balance.

The four-wheeler, on way to Sanghipuram from Mundra port, then skidded-off the highway and fell on the bed of a rivulet.

The injured was rushed to a nearby hospital.
