Srinagar, Apr 14: Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Mohammad Yaseen Malik was taken into preventive custody along with 20 others in north Kashmir today, official sources said.

They said Mr Malik and his supporters were on way to Baramulla when a police party stopped their vehicles at Mirgund and took them into custody.

A JKLF spokesman said Mr Malik was on way to Pattan for anti- election campaign.

Malik was scheduled to address a number of anti poll rallies in the Pattan assembly constituency going to the polls alongwith two other assembly segments in the Baramulla district on April 24.

JKLF and both the factions of the Hurriyat Conference (HC) have asked people to stay from the poll process.

The leaders of the breakaway HC have also launched a anti-poll campaign in all the three assembly segments.

However, leaders of the other faction of the HC, including its chairman Mirwaiz Moulvi Omar Farooq left for Jammu alongwith other leaders yesterday to address public meetings in Rajouri and other areas.

Mr Malik said election or selection will not help to reach anywhere on Kashmir issue. He urged people to boycott the polls.
