Cong leader ABA Ghani Khan Chowdhury passes away
Kolkata, Apr 14: Veteran Congress leader A B A Ghani Khan Chowdhury died here today after a protracted illness. He was 79.
He was born on November 1, 1927. He is survived by his brother and sister and a huge fan following.
The former Railway minister was admitted to a private nursing home here on April three after being flown in from Malda in north Bengal following acute abdominal pain and respiratory problem.
He had been on ventilation since admitted to the city nursing home.
He became the Union minister for coal and irrigation for the first time in 1980. He was the West Bengal Pradesh Congess committee president from 1978 to 1980. He won five times consequetively from Malda.
