Three HM terrorists killed in encounter in Doda

Doda, Apr 14 (UNI) In a major success, security forces gunned down three hardcore terrorists of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM), including a deputy district commander, in an encounter this morning that took place two km away from Bhagwa village of this district.

The army sources told UNI that the teams of the army and police, on a tip-off, launched a joint operation in the jungles of the Bhagwa area and soon cordoned off the hideout where the terrorists were taking shelter. Finding themselves surrounded, the ultras opened indiscreminate firing on the security forces.

In the ensuing encounter, which started at around 1030 hrs and lasted till 1600 hrs, all the three HM terrorists were killed. They were later identified as Irdhad Moulvi, deputy district commander, Mohd Iqbal and Mohammed Ayub Rather, alias Hayat, the sources said.

Two soldiers, a sepoy and a hawaldar, were also injured in the encounter. They have been rushed to the army hospital where their condition is stated to be out of danger, the sources added.

According to the sources, these terrorists were active in the area and had let loose a reign of terror for a long time. Three AK-47, five magazine, 27 rounds, two radio sets, one binocular and one mobilephone were recovered from the scene.
