Stage set for Kallichandra hockey festival

Madikeri, Apr 14 (UNI) The annual family hockey festival of Kodagu district is back with this year's event being hosted by the Kallichanda family.

Festival committee president Vishnu cariappa, Family President K.S.Kashi and secretary K.M.Bopaiah told newsmen here today that the event would start from April 16 at Ponnampet. Four grounds are already done with immaculate capacity to accommodate over fifty thousand spectators.

As many as 217 families of the district, once considered the cradle of Indian hockey would participate in the event with the final slated for May 4.

The winning team would get a prize money of Rs.30,000 besides a trophy worth Rs. 25,000. The highest scorer would ride home a TVS Apache.

The Family would spent over Rs. 50 lakhs to improve the infrastructure at the Ponnampet Junior College where the matches would be held.
