Sonia Gandhi to visit Kolkata tomorrow

Kolkata, Apr 14 (UNI) Congress president Sonia Gandhi will visit the West Bengal Pradesh Congress office here tomorrow to pay last respects to veteran Congress leader A B A Ghani Khan Choudhury, who died at a city nursing home today, party sources said.

Pradesh Congress sources said Ms Gandhi will come in a special flight early tomorrow and visit the party office here.

She will pay her last respects to the departed leader and join a procession to Royal Calcutta Golf Club (RCGC) from where the Mr Ghani Khan's body would be flown to his native place Malda for the last rites, party sources said.

Ms Gandhi will leave for Delhi after Mr Ghani Khan's body leaves for Malda by a special helicopter.

Earlier, in the day Ms Gandhi mourned the death of former Railway Minister Ghani Khan Chaudhary describing him as a distinguished political leader.

''In sad demise of Mr Ghani Khan Chaudhary, the nation and the State of Bengal has lost one of its senior most and distinguished political leaders,'' Mrs Gandhi said in a condolence message in Delhi.
