Soldier, two militants among four killed in Kashmir
Srinagar, Apr 14 (UNI) A soldier and two militants were killed in two separate encounters in south Kashmir overnight.
Official ources said security forces on a tip-off, cordoned off a village near Ashmuqam in Anantnag early this morning to nab the militants.
However, when the security forces sealed exit points, militants fired upon them with automatic weapons. In the ensuing exchange of fire, one soldier lost his life.
Reinforcement was rushed there from nearby camps and the operation was going on when the reports last came in.
A release issued here said an encounter took place at Maha Bhan in south Kashmir district of Anantnag last night in which two militants Mubshir Ahmad Dar and Irshad Ahmad Khan were killed. Two AK rifles, eight magazines, 176 rounds of ammunition, five hand grenades and one cell phone were recovered from the slain militants.
It said one unsound boy Firdous Ahmad Wani also died in the shootout.
