Soldier killed in Kashmir encounter

Srinagar, Apr 14 (UNI) A soldier was killed in an ongoing encounter between security forces and militants at Ashmuqam in the south Kashmir district of Anantnag today, official sources said.

Sources said security forces on a tip-off, cordoned off a village near Ashmuqam in Anantnag early this morning to nab the militants.

However, when the security forces sealed exit points, militants fired upon them with automatic weapons. In the ensuing exchange of fire, one soldier lost his life.

Reinforcement was rushed there from nearby camps and the operation was going on when the reports last came in.
