Rich tributes paid to Dr Ambedkar on his 115th Birth Anniversary
Bangalore, Apr 14 (UNI) Rich floral tributes were paid in Karnataka to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar on the occasion of 115th Birth Anniversary today.
Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa garlanded the statue of Dr Ambedkar in front of Vidhan Sabha, the State Secretariat, even as members of various Dalit organisations staged black flag demonstration protesting against Mr Yediyurappa participating in the celebrations.
The agitators, protesting against Mr Yediyurappa, demanded the Chief Minister not to allow him (Mr Yediyurappa) to garland the statue as he had shown disrespect to Ambedkar while assuming office as Deputy Chief Minister. Mr Kumaraswamy tried to convince the agitators and went ahead with Mr Yediyurappa and garlanded. This led to slogan shouting and waving black flag by the agitators.
In Gulbarga, District in-charge Minister Sharanabasappa Gowda Darshanapur, participating in the celebration, called upon Dalits to get united to claim their rights in education and other fields.
