Muslim organisation to field candidate against Sonia

Allahabad, Apr 14: The All India United Muslim Morcha, a non political organisation, will field Mohibur Rehman alias Haji Munna as an independent candidate against Congress president Sonia Gandhi for the byelection from the Rae Bareili parliamentary constituency.

National co-convenor of the Morcha Kamal Ashraf said Mr Rehman was formerly the national general secretary of Samata Party.

Mr Ashraf said the main issue of the Morcha in the election would be reservation for Muslims according to their population.

He claimed that eminent Muslim religious leaders, including Kalve Jauvad and Kalve Sadiq, would address election meetings of the Morcha.

Mr Rehman is expected to file his nomination on April 17 or 18 for the May 8 bypoll.
