Mohun Bagan return to win in NFL, beat Air India 2-1

Kolkata, Apr 14 (UNI) After losing to traditional rivals East Bengal 1-3 last week, Kolkata giants Mohun Bagan returned to winning ways defeating Air India 2-1 in a ONGC National Football League match here today.

Mehtab Hussain gave the hosts the lead in the 12th minute when he booted home from outside the box connecting an Ibrahim pass. After dodging past a few defenders, Ibrahim fed Hussain whose brilliant shot found the net.

The visitors, then, fought back to restore parity. But, agile Bagan goalkeeper Subrata Pal made some good saves to frustrate the Mumbai team.

But in the 71st minute, Subrata faultered while trying to clear a ball flooring Hamib Bashru inside the box. Nepoleon Singh did the rest to level the scoreline 1-1 from penalty spot.

Fifteen minutes from the end, Bagan had the last laugh when Edu headed home following a free kick off Kofi giving the local side an important win.

With today's win, Bagan now have 20 points from twelve matches.
