INOC meet at China on Apr 19

Lucknow, Apr 14 (UNI) International Non-Olympic Committee (INOC) today announced that it would hold a meeting at Ningbo, China between April 19-24, during the China International Woodball Open Tournament.

Asian non-Olympic Committee (ANOC) president Koh Kim Ban of Singapore the Asian Non-Olympic Committee (ANOC) will also meet during the same period.

ANOC meet would be attended by China, Korea, Thailand, Malaysia, Taiwan, Macau, Pakistan, Hong Kong, Signapore, Indonesia, Mongolia, Japan, Mauritius, Iran and India.

These nations would also participate in the China International Woodball Open Tournament, INOC secretary genenal Mohd Seraj Ansari said here today.

INOC comprises 45 National non-Olympic Committees (NNOCs) in the world.

Mr Ansari said the the two meetings at China would deliberate upon issues such as inviting more countries to form NNOCs, mini non-Olympic games, promotion of non-Olympic games, INOC charter, NNOCs and respective countries, inclusion of new sports in INOC charter, how to attract world sponsors for non-Olympic sports, popularisation of Non-Olympc sports.

''Several nations have already recognised their NNOCs, but the Government of India has kept the INOA file pending since 2000,'' Ansari said.

Ansari said he had urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Mani Shanker Aiyer to take immediate steps for granting recognition to the Indian non-Olympic Association for promoting non-Olympic sports in the country.
