IGNOU to provide on-line training to Indian diplomats
New Delhi, Apr 14 (UNI) Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) and the Foreign Service Institute, of the External Affairs Ministry, have signed an agreement to extend their MoU for another two years for providing on-line interactive training to FSI officers.
As part of the MoU, IGNOU has developed Virtual Campus Web Site for mid-career training programme for FSI officers, who are posted in various countries and have transferable jobs, making it difficult for them to have ''face-to-face, direct training.'' With the signing of the MoU, Information Technology-based distance learning programmes have been developed which are available to all diplomats at their place of posting.
The agreement was signed by Mr Rahul Kulshrestha on behalf of the FSI and IGNOU Registrar Dapil Kumar Tetri.
''The contents for training modules and evaluation strategies are provided by FSI while IGNOU has the responsibility of transforming these into the web format, apart from administering the web site,'' an IGNOU official said.
The web site is highly interactive, reliable and scalable, he said.
The on-line classes are going to start from April 24.
