HM Commander killed in encounter in Doda

Doda, Apr 14: A hardcore terrorist of Hizb-ul-Mujahideen outfit was gunned down this morning in a joint operation by army and police at Bhagu, two kilometres from here.

The sources in the army told UNI that security forces on a tip off launched an operation in the jungles of the Bhagu area and soon cordoned off the hideout where the terrorist was taking shelter. Finding himself surrounded the terrorist opened indiscreminate firing on the security forces.

In the ensuing encounter the terrorist was killed. He was later identified as Mohammed Ayub Rather alias Hayat, a section commandor of Hizb-ul-Muzahideen and active in the area for a long time.

One AK-47, a magzine and a radio set were recovered from the slain terrorist.
