Exports to Nepal suffer for strike in Kingdom

Siliguri, Apr 14 (UNI) Exports to Nepal have been affected for the past few days as over 200 trucks carrying with essential commodities stranded at Panitanki, some 36 kms west of this town, in Indo-Nepal border due to disturbances in the Nepalese kingdom.

Borders with Nepal have been sealed following indefinite strike in that country demanding restoration of democracy.

Police on both sides were not allowing to move the trucks into Nepal side for precautionary measure.

Nepal depends highly on the Indian goods, especially essentials and construction materials.

Business sources said that traders from that country, particularly Indians, have crossed over fearing harm as violence was escalating for restoration of democracy.

Additional force was also deployed in Naxalbari and Khoribari police stations in view of disturbances in the Nepal border, according to Additional Superintendent of Police, Siliguri, Kallol Ganai.
