Dalits protest against Dy CM Yediyurappa

Bangalore, Apr 14 (UNI) Black Flag demonstration and slogan shouting by members of various Dalit organisations marked the celebration of 115th Birth anniversary of Dr Babasab Ambedkar in front of Vidhana Soudha, the State Secretariat.

However, Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, Deputy Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa garlanded the Statute of Ambedkar.

The agitators, protesting against Mr Yediyurappa, demanded the Chief Minister not to allow him (Mr Yediyurappa) to garland the statue as he has shown disrespect to the Architect of the Country's Constitution while assuming office as Deputy Chief Minister.

Mr Kumaraswamy tried to convince the agitators and went ahead with garlanding with Mr Yediyurappa. This led to slogan shouting and waving black flag by the agitators.

However, Mr Yediyurappa maintained silence through out.

Mayor Mumtaz Begum, Union Minister K H Muniyappa, Minister for Civil Supplies Govind Karajol also garlanded the statue.
