CPM to hold dharnas against municipal
Vijayawada, Apr 14: Opposing municipal reforms introduced by the state government, the CPI(M) today said it will organise dharnas before municipal corporation offices on April 17.
Addressing a press conference here, CP(M) State Committee Member Ch Babu Rao said hundreds of party activists will participate in the dharnas.
Charging the government with total failure to provide amenities to the people, he said the party will sensitise them on the reforms as it will have a cascading effect on them.
He feared the government will introduce user charges in the guise of reforms.
Mr Rao also assailed Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy for his recent statement during a FICCI meeting that the government will consider public and private participation in the municipalities and remove the Urban Land Ceiling Act.
