BSF to establish 'Mahila' wing
Wagah, Apr 14 (UNI) The Border Security Force (BSF) will soon raise a 'mahila' (womens) wing for deployment along the country's borders and for internal security duty, BSF Additional Director General (ADGP) N P S Aulakh here today said.
''This has become necessary as BSF men personnel on duty cannot frisk women and have to take the help of the local police'',he said.
Refering to the Punjab border, he said that a number of women each day cross the barbed wire fence to work in their fields between the zero line and the fence. ''In such a situation, problems are faced by BSF jawans, so presence of lady BSF constables will help the force'', he added.
Mr Aulakh said that presence of women in the BSF would also help the battalions deployed for internal security duty.
