Bomb blasts: Kalam, Sonia appeal for peace
New Delhi, April 14 (UNI) President A P J Abdul Kalam tonight condemned the twin blasts at Jama Masjid in Delhi as well as serial blasts in Srinagar.
"Such inhuman acts have been carried out even on a day that is so important and holy for people of India," he said in a message.
A Rashtrapati Bhavan spokesman said the President had sent his wishes for the speedy recovery of those who were injured in both the Delhi and Srinagar blasts and conveyed his condolences to the next of the kin of those killed in the Srinagar explosion.
Congress President Sonia Gandhi expressed shock at the Delhi and Srinagar incidents, and asked the people to remain calm and maintain peace and communal harmony.
Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee chief Ram Babu Sharma asked the people of Delhi to strongly oppose such anti-social elements who were out to disrupt the cordial relations between Hindus and Muslims.
"These anti-national elements would never succeed in their designs to divide the country and society," he said.
He suggested increased vigilance in crowded areas.
