BJP supporters attack city's cinema hall screening Rang De Basanti

Vadodara, Apr 14 (UNI) Protesting against film star Aamir Khan's support to Medha Patkar's Narmada Bachao Andolan (NBA) against raising of the Sardar Sarovar Dam height, a mob of BJP supporters today attacked a city cinema hall screening his film ''Rang De Basanti''.

The 150-strong slogan shouting mob pulled down all banners and posters of the film on display and set them ablaze. The situation was however brought under control with immediate police intervention.

As tension mounted in the Sayajiganj area where the cinema hall is located, barring only a dozen people, all those, including women, who had gathered for the matinee show, abandoned the show apprehending further mob violence.

The hall owner later ran the show with adequate police bandobast. No one was arrested in connection with the incident so far, police sources said.

The city Congress committee led by Bhikhabhai Rabari also today organised a protest demonstration against Medha Patkar and centre's decision to review its order with regard to the dam height.

They demanded that the on-going construction work should not stop because of the NBA's ''anti-dam'' agitation.
