AIAI to hold seminar on Ports

Mumbai, Apr 14:The All India Association of Industries (AIAI) is organizing a seminar, on April 18 here to discuss the implementation and the progress of 'National Maritime Development Program' (NMDP) with a view to analyze and also suggest recommendations from the experts to make NMDP successful.

Ministry of Shipping Secretary A K Mohapatra will be the Chief Guest on this occasion, an AIAI release said here today.

Development of Ports in India is particularly important at this juncture due to the competition it faces from its neighbouring countries.

The seminar will discuss ways to enhance the existing capacities of the Ports and to make shipping industry more competitive and provide a level-playing field to the shipping sector in terms of taxation and creation of an environment, whereby the share of Indian bottoms in the Exim Trade will grow. Simultaneously the seminar will also discuss aspects of coastal trade and Inland waterway.
