Written by: Staff

Mumbai, Apr 14 (UNI) The All India Association of Industries (AIAI) will organise a seminar to discuss the implementation and the progress of 'National Maritime Development Programme' (NMDP) here on April 18.

The event will discuss ways to enhance the existing capacities of the ports and to make shipping industry more competitive and provide a level-playing field to the sector in terms of taxation and creation of a growing trade environment. Issues pertaining to coastal trade and inland waterways would also be taken up.

Development of ports in India is important at this juncture because of the competition it is facing from its neighbours.

Ministry of Shipping Secretary A K Mohapatra will be the chief guest on this occasion, an AIAI release said here today.
