85-year-old woman raped, accused absconding

Dehra Dun, Apr 14 (UNI) An 85 year old woman was allegedly raped by a youth in Ghusri village of Uddhamsingh Nagar district of Uttaranchal on Wednesday, police sources said.

According to the Sitarganj thana police sources, the victim was on her way to her parental home on foot when the accused, 22- year- old Harjinder Singh from her village offered her lift on his motorbike. He, however, took her to an isolated field where he allegedly raped and left her unconcious. She was later found by some people, profusely bleeding and in an unconcious state and they took her to the hospital.

The reports of medical check-up are awaited.

The accused is absconding since the incident, police said.
