59 arrested for illicit liquor

Shillong, Apr 14: Meghalaya police arrested 59 people here during a month-long drive against illicit liquor by the excise department.

The excise staff of East Khasi Hills district detected 74 cases during its raids at restaurants and stalls in and around Shillong in the month of March, said a release from the excise department.

The raids led to seizure of 530 lts country made liquor and 45 lts of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL).
