450 chicken die in MP
Sagar (MP), Apr 14 (UNI) Amidst bird flu scare in Madhya Pradesh, about 450 fowls have died due to Ranikhet disease during the past 15 days in this district.
Joint Director (Veterinary) Madhura Singh said the administration was alert regarding bird flu and samples were being collected from various poultry farms.
So far, 88 poultry farms had been identified and a list has been handed over to the administration.
The chickens in the district had been found to be suffering from Ranikhet disease, which occurred when regular vaccination was not carried out.
Dr Singh said the government had distributed 4,720 chicken in 2005-06 to Scheduled Tribes beneficiaries.
