2 minors burnt to death, 300 hutments gutted

Ballia, Apr 14 (UNI) Two minors, including a girl were burnt to death in a major fire, that also gutted about 300 hutments under Maniyar area of the district today.

Over two dozen cattlehead perished and a dozen shops were also gutted.

District magistrate Anil Kumar said Rajbhar and Nat settlements in Malahu Tola were destroyed in the blaze, which was yet to be controlled.

Fire tenders had been pressed into service, he added.

The incident occurred when some boys were roasting fish in an oven and a spark caused the fire in the immediate vicinity. The flames soon engulfed the entire Malahu Tola.

The deceased were identified as Suman (7) and Indrish (5).
