115th Birth Anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar observed in Capital

New Delhi, Apr 14 (UNI) The 115th birth anniversary Baba Saheb B R Ambedkar was celebrated in the capital today.

Delhi Legislative Assembly Speaker Prem Singh and Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit led the Delhiites in paying rich tributes to the father of the Indian Constitution in the Legislative Assembly.

Among those who paid floral tributes to the statue of Dr Ambedkar installed at the precincts of the Old Secretariat were Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit and Leader of the Opposition Jagdish Mukhi.

On this occasion, The Chief Minister, Lt Governor B L Joshi, Assembly Speaker Prem Singh and Delhi Pradesh Congress committee Chief Rambabu Sharma extended their best wishes to the dalit community.

A huge procession was organised on the occasion in the capital by the Babasaheb Ambedkar Janmotsava Committee. The procession which began at 1400 HRS from Parade grounds, terminated at the Ambedkar Stadium at 2100 Hours.

Several traffic arrangements had been made by the police on the route of the procession.
