Thieves steal Rs 4.50 lakh in cash, ornaments from two houses

Rajkot, Apr 13 (UNI) Cash and gold ornaments worth about Rs 4.50 lakh were stolen from two locked houses in the city during past 24 hours.

According to the police, cash and gold ornaments worth about Rs 4.25 lakh were stolen from the house of a retired municipal corporation officer, Shamjibhai Amrelia, at the Sadhna Society here.

Shamjibhai and his family had gone to Ahmedabad to see off his son Gaurang who emplaned for Nairobi. Upon returning home yesterday, Shamjibhai discovered the theft and reported it to the police.

In another incident, burglers took away cash and gold ornaments worth about Rs 25,000 after breaking open the house of Madhuben Nitinbhai Mehta at Pujara Plot area. The family members were away at the time of incident.
