New Delhi, Apr 13 (UNI) The Bharatiya Janata Party today demanded dismissal of the Mulayam Singh Government and imposition of President's rule in Uttar Pradesh in view of total collapse of the law and order situation there.

Talking to newspersons, senior BJP leader and former HRD Minister M.M. Joshi said the law and order situation in the state was precarious and deteriorating day by day. He even alleged that there seemed to be nexus between the anti-social elements and police and the administration was sitting quiet.

He paraded before newspersons about 15 to 20 badly wounded traders of Mathura who were beaten up by police mercilessly on April 9 when they were demanding arrest of the accused in the broad-day light robbery. The accused, according to the traders, were identified but police was not taking action against them.

At least 50 people, including former minister Ramakant Garg, were seriously injured in the police lathicharge, he said.

The former Union MInister pointed out that it was the same IG of Police who was responsible for Aligarh violence.

Bulldozing the dead bodies at the Meerut Trade Fair fire indicated the mindset of the police and the administration, he said, adding there were several incidents elsewhere in the state which proved the total collapse of the law and order machinery in Uttar Pradesh.

President APJ Abdul Kalam should take cognisance of it and dismiss the Mulayam Singh Government, he said, adding that the BJP would support such a move.

The BJP also demandd that the matter be probed and guilty policemen be punished, Dr Joshi added.
