Hopes for full-fledged sports stadium in Mizoram fades away

Aizawl, Apr 13 (UNI) All hopes for an international sports stadium at Chite in Mizoram has faded away due to paucity of funds and area.

National Building Construction Corporation (NBCC) officials, Director (F) B L Bajaj and additional GM(F) BR Garg, after inspecting the proposed site a few days back, have made it clear that the original plan for the sports stadium could not be improved due to the limitation of funds and area.

A committee formed at the Aizawl East-I constituency level has recently urged the authorities to revise the original Chite sports stadium project.

The NBCC official sources here today explained that the project is being sponsored under the Urban Development scheme within limited provision of funds and besides that the area is too small for a modern sports stadium.

However, the state government has recently announced its plan to develop the Assam Rifles Ground in to a modern sports stadium.

The NBCC officials, who arrived here, inspected their current projects in Mizoram funded by the ministry of Urban Development and Urban Employment&Poverty Allevation.
