CM inaugurates conference on IT and its Applications
New Delhi, Apr 13 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit today said IT-based knowledge revolution would definitely help in development of a 'super talent bank' in the country.
Speaking at the inaugural function of a two-day conference on 'IT and its Applications' organised by Bharti Vidyapeeth at College of Engineering in East Delhi, she said the IT revolution was touching everybody's life and had provided much faster flow of information.
''It is not an end but it is a powerful means to achieve desired results in minimum possible time,'' she added.
The conference was sponsored by Department of Science of Technology and All India Council of Technical Education.
IT had also helped in establishing transparency in government and also simplified complicated procedures, she said.
Saying that credit of e-governance in the capital went to IT, the Chief Minister said India stood a good chance of coming up at the number one position in the world with application of IT in almost all the fields.
She called upon women to make use of IT revolution in their empowerment.
Right to Information Act in Delhi had provided a unique opportunity to everyone to have access to information, which used to be earlier, dumped in dusty files. This had added to openness and efficiency, Ms Dikshit said.
She reiterated her commitment to provide all possible encouragement to IT sector in the city.
The GGSIP University Vice-Chancellor K K Aggarwal, speaking on this occasion, said IT was proving to be useful in every field. He stressed upon the need of adopting e-learning and project-based learning methods to provide impetus to IT.
Advisor to Department of Science&Technology R C Srivastava and College of Engineering Bharti Vidyapeeth's Principal Dr Inamdar also expressed their views.
Around 300 students and experts were taking part in the conference.
