Besakhi celebrated in Delhi, CM, LG greet people

New Delhi, Apr 13 (UNI) The harvest festival of Baisakhi, which marks the beginning of the harvest season and ripening of Rabi crops, was celebrated in the capital with traditional fervour today.

On this occasion, a Baisakhi Mela was organised at the Garden of five senses.

Greeting the people of Delhi on the occasion, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, Lieutenant Governor B L Joshi and Assembly Speaker Prem Singh expressed the hope that the festival would bring amity, prosperity and happiness to the people.

In his greetings to the people on the occasion, Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Rambabu Sharma said Baisakhi strengthens the bond between people and is celebrated by all to highlight the rich cultural tradition of the country.
