AIR organises 'Run 4 Radio' marathon in city on April 16
Ahmedabad, Apr 13 (UNI) All India Radio (AIR) is organising 'Run 4 Radio' marathon here to mark its 57th foundation-day in the city on April 16.
Talking to reporters here today, Ahmedabad AIR Station Director Sadhana Bhatt said, ''The 21 km marathon run has been organised not just to celebrate over half-century existence of the Radio in the city but to instill the enthusiasm among the citizens, particularly youngsters.'' AIR is not aiming at providing education but targetting to supply information, education and entertainment through its reach to the rural and urban areas where private TV and Radio channels have not yet penetrated, she said.
AIR is spreading awareness about the rational use of water, prevention of AIDS, eradication of illiteracy, social and religious harmony and development programmes and schemes of the Government and private organisations for the common people, she added.
Talking about the event, Ms Bhatt said the participants will cover 21 km distance covering major part of the western-side of the city.
She said that some celebrities have also been invited to participate but their names couldn't be disclosed due to security reasons.
The winners of different categories will be given prizes in cash and kinds. While the winners in men and women categories will get the cash prize of Rs 15,000 each, the runners-up will received Rs 10,000 each and 2nd runners-up Rs 5,000 each, Ms Bhatt added.
