Youth dies after alleged torture by the police

Hardwar, Apr 12 (UNI) A BSNL employee who was on his way to attend the annual Urs held in the memory of the famous sufi saint, Sabir Saheb at Peeran Kaliyar, near Roorkee, died after allegedly being cruelly beaten by cops at Bahadrabad police check post.

The sources police recovered from him a revolver with licence valid only for UP and they detained him for a few hours for interogation yesterday.

The relatives of Athar alleged the police subjected him to torture and cruelly beat him as a result of which he died after a few hours.

The District Magistrate has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the incident.
