Whatmore pleased at home side pushing Australia to fifth day
Narayanganj, Bangladesh, Apr 12 (UNI) Bangladesh coach Dave Whatmore today said the first Test against Australia was not over and has to wait till the fifth day tomorrow for the result.
He, however, was pleased that the home side forced the world champions to play on the fifth day.
About the hosts' batting collapse in the second innings, Whatmore said at the post-match press conference that even though they didn't play well in their second essay, the first innings lead could have been more healthy if they were able to send back Adam Gilchrist early.
About the possible strategy tomorrow, the coach said they would rely on their spin attack.
Meanwhile, Aussie pacer Jason Gillespie told reporters that his team came back strongly today. He gave credit to Bangladesh for carrying the match to the fifth day.
Asked about the pitch, Gillespie said the ball kept low and it would get turn tomorrow.
''The final day will be interesting and competitive,'' said the confident right-arm pacer.
