Two die as car plunges into canal

Hoshiarpur, Apr 12 (UNI) Two persons drowned when the car they were travelling in plunged into Shah canal near Talwara, about 75 km from here, last night, police said.

The deceased were identified as Satya Dev Handa (59) of Talwara and Khushal (45) of Raja Ka Talab, Himachal Pradesh.

According to eye-witnesses, the car, which was going towards Himachal Pradesh, rammed into the railings of the bridge near a hotel, after its driver lost control of the vehicle and it fell into the canal.

Local residents and fire brigade immediately reached the spot and recovered the bodies.
