Salman to spend one more day in jail, hearing on Apr 13

Jodhpur, Apr 12 (UNI) Actor Salman Khan will have to spend another day in the jail here as hearing for his appeal against the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) verdict will be conducted tomorrow at the District and Session Court.

Salman's defence counsel Hastimal Saraswat today appealed against the April 10 decision of CJM at the District and Sessions Court of Magistrate Goverdhan Singh. In his 47 page appeal, Saraswat has highlighted 38 points as to why Salman should be let off. Along with the appeal, a letter requesting suspension of Salman's sentence and acceptance of fine was also presented to the magistrate.

Magistrate Singh has asked for records of the case from the CJM and fixed the case hearing for tomorrow. Hence, Salman will have to spend another day in the jail.

The District and Sessions Court today will also hear Salman's appeal against the verdict pronounced on February 17, 2006 for killing two black bucks. The verdict was one year jail term along with Rs 5000 penalty.

Judicial Magistrate Dalpat Singh Rajpurohit will also hear Salman's another case as he has also been booked under the Indian Arms Act. Witness Mangi Lal has been summoned regarding this case.

Jodhpur CJM Brijendra Singh had pronounced on April 10, a five-year jail term and Rs 25,000 as penalty, against Salman for killing a Chinkara at Ghodha Farm House in Mathania area on September 28-29, 1998.

Since then Salman has been lodged at the Jodhpur Central jail.

The other accused Govardhan Singh who was awarded one-year jail term and Rs 5000 fine, was released on bail as his punishment is below three years period. He has to appeal within one month.
