Political parties in Meghalaya to get land
Shillong, Apr 12 (UNI) The Meghalaya government will allot land to the political parties, having representation in the State Assembly, for setting up offices.
The decision was taken by the state Cabinet yesterday in view of the problems faced by the parties to procure land.
Deputy Chief Minister Dr Donkupar Roy said here that each party would get 3,000 sq feet of land.
However, the parties would have to pay a premium, as fixed by the government, Dr Roy said.
He pointed out that the state Congress unit was functioning from a congested office while the United Democratic Party (UDP) was also facing similar problems.
