Pantaloon retail sales jump 68 pc for March at Rs 143 cr

Mumbai, Apr 12 (UNI) Retail major Pantaloon Retail recorded 67.77 per cent growth for its retail sales, year-on-year (YoY) basis, for the month of March 2006, encashing Rs 143.69 crore as against Rs 85.14 crore during the same period last year.

The sales for value retailing also showed (YoY) growth of 91 per cent at Rs 104.57 crore as against Rs 54.75 crore during the same period last year. For lifestyle retailing, the company recorded sales of Rs 39.12 crore as against Rs 30.40 crore during the same period last year, recording a YoY growth of 28.70 per cent, said a Pantaloon release here today.

Also, the same-store growth in value retailing for march stood at 22.6 per cent and for lifestyle retailing at 5.63 per cent. The sales figures for the month of March this year and last year included shop- in-shop (SIS) sale of Rs 6.20 crore and Rs 7.75 crore respectively.
