Mercury drops to 35 Deg C as Northerly winds bring more relief
New Delhi, Apr 12 (UNI) A fresh wave of Northerly winds today continued to bring relief for Delhiites from the scorching summer heat as the mercury, continuing its downwards climb, dropped further to 35 Degree C, from 36.8 Degree C yesterday.
With the maximum being recorded at its lowest level since the beginning of April, it was another pleasant day for the people of Delhi. The high speed winds also brought down the minimum temperature to 17.6 Degree C, two degree below normal, from 19.5 Degree C yesterday.
This is the second day in succession that the minimum temperature has registered a downwards movement. Yesterday, the minimum dropped to 19.5 degree C, from a high of 23 degrees C on Monday, which was four Degrees above normal.
The maximum temperature too has dropped considerably from Sunday's 40.4 Degree C. While Monday saw the mercury plummeting to 36 Degree C, the temperature recorded just a slight rise to 36.8 Degree C yesterday.
While, a thundry squall which began on Sunday evening contributed to the pleasantness in the weather on Monday, a fresh wave of Northerly winds brought about a drop in mercury yesterday and today.
While yesterday's drop in minimum temperature was brought about by low speed North Westerly winds, high speed Northerly winds made the heat of the Sun bearable today.
The relief in the weather could continue in the coming days too with the meteorological department forecasting a partly cloudy sky in Delhi towards the afternoon. The weathermen have predicted a maximum temperature of 37 Degree C tomorrow.
The BBC too has forecast that the maximum temperature would drop to 35 Degree C on Saturday. It has also predicted heavy showers for Saturday.
