Malik appeals to open all possible LoC points
Jammu, Apr 12 (UNI) Former Chief Justice of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir(PoK) Abdul Majeed Malik asked both India and Pakistan to open more contact-points on the Line of Control to address humanitarian problems and take forward the dialogue process.
It was justice Malik who delivered the landmark judgment, asking Pakistani government to merge Northern Areas with PoK, as their division was void on legal and constitutional basis.
Mr Malik is heading a 12-member PoK deligation which arrived here late evening to participate in a two-day seminar.
Talking to UNI, Malik said, "there are many routes which should be gradually opened to make the dialogue process more participative and address the problems of divided families on both the sides of Line of Control (LoC)." Hailing Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's round table conference initiative, on Kashmir, he said " Whenever discussions on the Kashmir issue start, it would be important to include every region or group part of the erstwhile Jammu and Kashmir." Justice Malik said, for this reason, opening of Skardu-Kargil road link is very important. "Ladakh and the Northern areas comprise two-thirds of the total area of the undivided state of Jammu and Kashmir. Certainly these two parts cannot be excluded from this process." he added.
Stressing for a political solution of Kashmir issue, he said "The Indian subcontinent has a greater role to play in the changing power equation of the world,".
Finally he hoped for restoration of peace in the valley as well as in whole region, he also appealed the militant groups and the governments of India and Pakistan to enter into a cease-fire.
