Hangkhanlian new BSP president, MPP in crisis
Imphal, Apr 12: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Manipur unit, chief V Hangkhanlian today quit the party and joined the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP).
Mr Hangkhanlian, who was local unit president of NCP, announced here that he along with his 95 followers have joined the BSP to lead the party here.
The NCP central leadership has changed the NCP office bearers of Manipur and appointed former Chief Minister Radhabinod Koijam as the president.
NCP sources said the party will conduct meetings in all the constituencies of the state on 'good governance and role of women and youth in development'.
Meanwhile, the oldest regional party in the region, the Manipur People's Party (MPP) was still in factional feud over the post of the party president. While former president O Joy claimed he was the unit chief, newly appointed O Borajao also claimed he was the real president.
Meanwhile, a local court yesterday issued a ruling restricting entry of O Joy and his supporters to the party office.
Both the leaders were fighting for the occupation over the party premises.
