Five injured in lions attack
Junagadh, Apr 12 (UNI) Five people were injured when a pride of five lions attacked them at two different places in Talala taluka of the district yesterday, forest officials said today.
Forest officials said the lions, who had strayed from the Gir forest in search of water, appeared on the outskirts of Bhetali village where they attacked three people--Vijay Karsan (11), his father Karsanbhai (35) and Balubhai Jasabhai (55), severly injuring them. They were rushed to a nearby civil hospital.
In another incident, the same pride of lions attacked two persons, including an old woman, near Lumba village, the sources said. The wild beasts also killed two calves in the same area before returning in the forest, they added.
The two victims--Bhanuben Jivabhai (60) and Rohit Kansagara (25)--were rushed to the Talala health centre. Jivabhai was discharged after administering the first aid, while Kansagara was shifted to civil hospital at Junagadh with severe injuries, the sources added.
