Carrying human waste on head to be thing of past in UP

Gonda, Apr 12 (UNI) Come September 2006 and Uttar Pradesh will put to end the practice of sweepers carrying human waste on their heads.

All dry public toilets in the state will be provided water by September next, putting to end the burdensome task of sweepers carrying the human waste from the toilets over their head, State Panchayati Raj Director R K Shukla said here today.

Only 30,000 public toilets were to be provided with permanent supply of water, he added.
